Akron’s Casnet acquires software division of NCD Corp. in Eastlake

Casnet, a provider of document management software and services in Akron, has acquired the software division of NCD Corp. in Eastlake under undisclosed terms.

The acquisition will give Casnet access to NCD’s Electronic Worldwide Information Exchange software, which allows customers to access their documents via the Internet, said Jack Hudson, marketing specialist for Casnet, which is the working name of Highline Corp.

“It gives us a piece that we didn’t have,” Mr. Hudson said.

NCD will continue to operate the side of its business that sells medical equipment, Mr. Hudson said.

A handful of NCD employees began working out of Casnet’s office on West Waterloo Road at the beginning of March, Mr. Hudson said, though he declined to say exactly how many employees made the move. The company now has more than 50 people.

Casnet said in a news release the acquisition will expand the company’s document scanning capacity by 42% while increasing the number of people it employs by 17% and its revenue by 24%.
