Bardsley’s cross-Pennine expansion plan

Tameside-based Bardsley Construction is to open a branch in Yorkshire, the first time it  will have opened an office outside its Greater Manchester heartland.

Bardsley has operated solely from its headquarters in Dukinfield for 45 years but contract wins across the Pennines and a brighter economic outlook are behind its expansion.

The company, which is aiming for turnover of over £75m this year, has appointed Adrian Rooney as its Yorkshire regional manager to head its operations in Leeds.

Bardsley has been appointed as a preferred contractor for a four-year programme at Bradford University and has won a place on the Yorbuild framework to undertake works for local authorities and public sector bodies across West Yorkshire.

Mr Rooney said: “Having a cross-Pennines presence gives us a fantastic opportunity to work with new clients and enhance the Bardsley name and reputation outside its traditional north west heartland.”

The group, which is majority-owned by chairman Wayne Bardsley, specialises in public sector schemes – mainly housing, education and healthcare – and employs more than 210 staff.
