BlueBridge Networks buys Nationwide Insurance data center in Mayfield Heights

BlueBridge Networks LLC of Cleveland has bought the assets of the former Nationwide Insurance data center in Mayfield Heights for an undisclosed price.

The 5,400-square-foot data center will serve as a backup site for BlueBridge’s main data center in downtown Cleveland and its other satellite facility in Columbus. Nationwide sold the data center because it is consolidating its data center functions in Columbus, where it is based.

BlueBridge in some of the new space is creating 50 work stations that customers would be able to use if they were unable to work from their offices because of an unforeseen event. The company also is in the process of building 50 more work stations at its main data center in Cleveland.

The company decided to start offering backup workstations for customers in an effort to provide comprehensive disaster recovery services, said Kevin Goodman, managing director of business development for BlueBridge. BlueBridge plans to make more acquisitions in the future, according to a statement from BlueBridge CEO Jeff Levine.

“We intend to grow by acquisition and organically,” Mr. Levine said in the statement.

The company has made about $4 million in investments in its data center operations over the past five years, mostly recently purchasing a 1.7-megawatt generator to complement another, larger generator that provides backup power to its downtown data center.
