Brits spend over a year of their life in the pub
A new study has revealed that the average UK drinker will spend over a year of their life in the pub.
The study revealed that the average British male spends a total of 10,585 hours in the pub. In contrast, women are likely to spend around 8,154 hours enjoying a drink with friends and colleagues in the pub.
Adrian Wills, Blighty’s channel head, stated that the survey highlights how the British pub has become so “ingrained in our culture despite the closure of at least 52 pubs every week”.
The study was undertaken by UKTV’s Blighty television channel to coincide with the launch of their documentary – Save Our Boozer. The programme aims at saving local pubs, as well as the jobs of those they employ.
Save Our Boozer is an on-going, five part documentary that features Jay Smith, an award-winning landlord, who is attempting to help local communities revamp struggling small business owned pubs. He hopes to do this by encouraging local people to learn about what life is like on the other side of the beer pumps.
