Case Western Reserve receives $1.25 million gift

Case Western Reserve University has received a $1.25 million gift to endow its Distinguished Lecture series in the name of Francis Callahan Jr., the chairman emeritus of valve maker Swagelok Co. in Solon.

Mr. Callahan began working at Swagelok in 1958 and received 23 patents for his inventions as he rose through the ranks at Swagelok over his 40-year career. His son, Timothy, is on the CWRU board of trustees.

The Distinguished Lecture series was created in 2005 and brings experts in various fields to the campus. The donation was provided by the Callahan Family Foundation.
