Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine receives $1.5 million gift
A $1.5 million gift was given to Case Western Reserve University’s School of Dental Medicine to endow its first chaired position.
The gift was from CWRU alumnus and dentist Dr. R. William Cornell Jr., who also held several positions at the dental school before becoming part of the faculty at Northwestern University. As a retiree, he now volunteers at the Collier County Health Department Dental Clinic in Naples, Fla., and holds seminars for pediatric dental residents at the University of Florida College of Dentistry and Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
“I wanted to support the school that gave me the knowledge and skills to build a career in a field I love,” Dr. Cornell said.
The holder of the Dr. and Mrs. R. William Cornell Jr. Endowed Professor in Pediatric Dentistry has not yet been named.
