Cleveland Clinic promotes David Bronson, Fred DeGrandis to key posts

Two top Cleveland Clinic executives have been promoted as the health care system seeks to bolster the integration of its hospitals.

The Clinic said Dr. David Bronson was named president of Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals, and Fred DeGrandis was named chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Community Physician Partnership and Quality Alliance.

Dr. Bronson will lead operations at the Clinic’s nine regional hospitals in Northeast Ohio, where he will work to standardize quality and safety, the Clinic said in a statement. Mr. DeGrandis will focus on strengthening the Clinic’s relationships with community physicians and hospitals throughout Ohio and beyond.

“As health care reform takes shape, Cleveland Clinic is integrating our hospitals to design a health care system that delivers the highest quality care at the greatest value to our patients,” said Dr. Delos M. “Toby” Cosgrove, president and CEO of the Clinic, in a statement.

“These two proven executives will help lead our organization through change driven by health care reform and the long-term effects of the economy,” Dr. Cosgrove said.

Dr. Bronson will oversee operations at Euclid, Fairview, Hillcrest, Huron, Lakewood, Lutheran, Marymount, Medina and South Pointe hospitals, and affiliate Ashtabula County Medical Center. He previously was chairman of the Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic. An interim chairman will be announced in the near future to take his place.

As head of the Cleveland Clinic Community Physician Partnership (CPP) and Quality Alliance, Mr. DeGrandis will work with doctors and hospitals outside the Clinic’s health system. He also will represent the Clinic on trustee boards at the regional hospitals and will serve as a leader on the Northern Ohio Regional Trauma Network.

Mr. DeGrandis previously served as president and CEO of the Clinic’s regional hospitals.
