CollectCorp debt collections firm closes Middleburg Heights call center
CollectCorp, a debt collections firm based in Phoenix, has closed a Middleburg Heights call center it opened last summer.
In a Worker Adjustment Retraining Act notice dated May 4 but filed this week, the company said the call center closed May 3 “due to unforeseen business circumstances.” There were 38 employees.
The office opened in July 2009.
Last May, when the opening was announced, Crain’s reported the call center would have 125 employees and a payroll of at least $3.1 million. It moved into the Plaza South I office building at 7251 Engle Road in Middleburg Heights.
The company also has call centers in Phoenix; St. Louis Park, Minn.; Hobart, Australia; and near Toronto.
The director of human resources at the company said she could not answer questions about why the Middleburg Heights call center closed. No one else from CollectCorp immediately returned a phone call seeking comment on the reason for the closure.
