Demand growing for screen star Pinewood

A Salford firm that makes display stands and room-dividing screens has seen soaring demand during the recession.

Pinewood Associates, based in Eccles, has benefited by many firms upgrading their existing offices rather than moving to new premises.

It now aims to grow annual turnover from £2m by 25 per cent within two years with the help of a new six-figure loan facility from NatWest.

Pinewood says it has got more customers by exploiting new marketing channels, including a new specialist website, www.panelwarehouse.com, and increasing the number of trade resellers it uses.

That has helped it win almost 4,000 new customers in the last two years.

Pinewood’s operations director Lyn Boardman said: “Looking ahead, we are confident of growing the business by enhancing our website and developing our presence in more market sectors.” The firm, which was founded 20 years ago and employs 23 staff, manufactures a range of more than 200 products which has been designed to cater for customers of any budget.

NatWest relationship manager Guy Boxall said: “Pinewood is an excellent local business due to the quality of its products and the service it provides to customers.

“This approach has seen the company emerge from the recession in good shape.”
