Early Stage Partners raises $55 million for second investment fund

Early Stage Partners has raised $55 million for its second investment fund.

The final total is 20% less than the amount the Cleveland investment firm originally intended to raise for the fund, which it will use to invest in early stage technology companies.

Early Stage Partners in an e-mail newsletter said the firm had raised about 60% of the $55 million when the economy began to falter, according to managing partner Jonathan Murray. It was able to raise the rest following a nine-month period during which the firm had trouble getting potential investors to commit to financing the fund, Mr. Murray said.
