General contractor on Memphis Mitsubishi plant seeks local companies for project

General contractor O’Neal, Inc. of Greenville, S.C., has set two construction/contractor fairs to seek localpanies to help build a Memphis factory for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc.

The Greater Memphis Chamber announced today that O’Neal scheduled the events for 3 p.m. April 13 at Agricenter International and 9 a.m. April 14 at Memphis Cook Convention Center. Registration will begin 30 minutes prior to each fair.

O’Neal wants to make connections with people andpanies in the construction industry. Vendors that are not in the construction industry will be turned away at the door.

Mitsubishi Electric plans to break ground this spring on a $207 million factory at Rivergate Industrial Park to make extra-high-voltage shell-type power transformers. Plans call for two buildings totaling 370,000 square feet that will eventually employ as many as 275 people.

Mitsubishi will be holding other events to meet with prospective, long-term vendors in the future.
