Kent State University to boost room and board rates next fall
Room and board at Kent State University will go up by 5.49% next fall.
Kent State’s board of trustees approved the fee hikes at its March 16 meeting. The increased fees apply to undergraduate room and board rates for students staying in single-, double- or quadruple-occupant rooms or apartments on campus.
For example, students in a double-occupancy room with a full meal plan will pay $4,118 per semester, which is an increase of $218 over current rates of $3,970. In addition, the monthly rent for two-bedroom apartments at the Allerton Student Family Apartment complex will be raised $25 as of Sept. 1.
In other measures, the board created an exercise physiology major and voted to inactivate its early childhood education technology major starting in the fall semester.
The university also bought a .118-acre piece of land at 116 S. Willow St. for $145,000 and a .129-acre parcel of land at 325 E. Erie St. for $125,000, both of which will be used for campus expansion.
