Lake Health opens two osteoporosis clinics
Lake Health has opened two osteoporosis clinics at its West Medical Center and TriPoint Medical Center to treat and prevent the bone disease.
The clinics are providing evaluation, screening and treatment for osteoporosis, as well as patient education in nutrition, education, exercise, smoking cessation and medication.
“Our primary goal is to help patients prevent fractures by stopping or slowing bone loss, maintaining bone strength and eliminating factors that contribute to falls,” said Dr. Mitchell Nahra, an orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the Lake Health Osteoporosis Clinics.
More than 25 million Americans currently suffer from osteoporosis and about half the women and one quarter of the men throughout the country can expect to get osteoporosis, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
