MCM Capital Partners sells Georgia specialty chemicals company

Cleveland-based private equity firm MCM Capital Partners sold a Georgia manufacturer of specialty chemicals.

Amrep Inc. was sold for about $64 million to Zep Inc., an Atlanta-based chemicals producer. Both companies serve the same markets of industrial, janitorial and automotive maintenance. Amrep is in Marietta, Ga., an Atlanta suburb.

MCM has held Amrep since 1998, when it was generating $45 million in revenue. Its current annual revenues were in excess of $100 million at the time of the sale. The company has about 200 employees.

Blue Point Capital, another Cleveland private equity firm, also was an ownership partner.
