Price & Slater team up for new practice

Two former solicitors at Manchester firm Linder Myers have branched out to form their own specialist firm after spending 10 years working on personal injury cases.

Victoria Price and Mark Slater have joined together to form Price & Slater, working out of an office in Altrincham.

Mr Slater said they felt they could progress more effectively with the specialist personal injury work they offer by setting up their own practice.

He said: “Anyone can see by the amount of advertising on television that the personal injury market is changing.

“Victoria and I both now think the bulk market is saturated, and in any case that isn’t a market we want to operate in.

“Also, when times are tough, it is sometimes better to be in a small dinghy than in an ocean liner. You can change more easily with the marketplace, and that’s what we intend to do as a specialist practice.”

He added that since Irwin Mitchell took over Alexander Harris in 2006 and moved its operations into Manchester city centre, there has been no specialist practice operating in Altrincham.

He said: “You can cover most parts of Manchester from here, although eventually we want to offer a nationwide service.”

Ms Price first qualified as a barrister in 1993, but then changed tack to become a solicitor in 2001 and no longer works as a barrister.

Mr Slater qualified as a solicitor in 1998. He became a member of the Law Society’s clinical negligence panel – something of a kite mark in the industry – in 2004, and is recognised as a senior litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
