CKx Inc., which owns Elvis Presley Enterprises among other entertainment properties, announced this morning that Robert F.X. Sillerman has resigned as chairman and chief executive officer of the company and from the company’s board.

CKx has proposed an ambitious redevelopment plan for Graceland and the surrounding area.

In a statement, CKx said Sillerman cited his desire to pursue other interests, including the possible acquisition of CKx, as a reason for the resignation.

He founded the company and has served as its chairman and chief executive officer since its inception, in 2005. And Sillerman plans to continue as a consultant to the company.

Last month, Sillerman met with local officials, including members of the City Council and Greater Memphis Chamber, and assured them that Graceland area development plans were on track.

“They should get out of their chairs and go to Graceland five or six times now and five or six times again during the year so they can say they remember it before we turned it into the spectacular that it is going to be,” Sillerman told The Commercial Appeal at the time.
