Samedaydoctor clinic bought back by founders

A city centre private medical practice which offers same-day access to a GP has been bought out by its parent company.

The Samedaydoctor Group was founded in London in 2003 and Michael and Suzy Wayne bought a franchise for Manchester which opened in Queen Street in 2007.

Now the group, which has eight branches nationwide, has bought the franchise back for an undisclosed amount.

Group chairman Layton Tamberlin said: “Samedaydoctor has developed into a highly successful and profitable group of walk-in clinics and we continue to follow our strategy of organic expansion by making the Manchester clinic a wholly-owned part of the group.

“We are grateful to Michael and Suzy Wayne for the impressive way they have grown this clinic from nothing and now we are looking forward to taking it to the next level with the greater investment ability that the group can bring.”

Since its inception the group has seen more than 100,000 patients, including 5,000 in Manchester, and has a turnover of £3m, £400,000 of which is generated by the Manchester branch.

It offers a full GP service as well as sexual health screening, vaccinations and consultant referrals.

It is now planned that the Manchester branch, which employs five people, will increase its opening hours and expand the range of services available..
