Seddon’s bulging £160m order book
Bolton-based maintenance company Seddon Group today said its order book has topped £160m after a string of contract wins.
Seddon’s strong start to 2010 will see it working on projects including one worth £19.5m with Places 4 People, a property management and regeneration company.
Seddon will carry out painting and decorating work across Britain. Places for People has sites stretching from Edinburgh to the Isle of Wight.
Other gains for Seddon, which is now being run by the third and fourth generation of the same family, include a £4.5m maintenance contract at Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool.
The company will also be working with Plus Dane Housing Group on redeveloping the Macclesfield Hospital site into offices, social housing, apartments and a crèche, and has secured orders for refurbishment and new build work at Salford University, a three-storey girls’ junior school in Bolton and a 36-bed care home in Solihull.
Chairman Rod Sellers said: “Order books like this don’t just happen. They are the culmination of a lot of hard work, excellent customer service and a trusted workforce.”
The company is currently involved in a nationwide programme of bathroom and bedroom refurbishments for Premier Inn, and is building a 90-bed care home in Ayrshire for Baron Healthcare. Seddon Group, founded in 1897, turns over £250m and employs 1,750 people.
