Siemens makes the most of Manchester Day

Global engineering giant Siemens has been confirmed as the main sponsor of the first ever Manchester Day.

The event, which aims to celebrate the city’s creativity and diversity, will see a parade of floats and performers in the city centre on June 20.

Around 50 Siemens staff will appear at the head of the parade accompanying a float entitled the Spirit of Manchester featuring a giant globe.

Coun Pat Karney, chair of the Manchester Day Parade, said: “We are obviously delighted to have Siemens on board.

“They employ a large number of people in Manchester and as such have a huge part to play in the city.

“Sponsorship agreements such as this will really help us to realise our ambitions of creating a world-class event for the people of Manchester and takes the event to the next level in terms of budget.”

Justin Kelly, of Siemens Industry, said: “Siemens is delighted and proud to be part of the Manchester Day parade celebrating the local communities in the city.”
