Sports E-quipment scores in the Champions League final
An ex-red has scored in Madrid – and it is not Ronaldo.
When the teams from Inter Milan and Bayern Munich line up for the UEFA Champions League cup final at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid on Saturday week there will only be one thing in their sights.
They will be aiming to put the ball between the posts and in the back of the net, which have been provided by a sports and ground care equipment supplier from Lymm, Cheshire.
Sports E-quipment was founded in 1993 by former Macclesfield Town, Altrincham and Manchester United reserves player Garry Worrall.
It distributes grass seed, fertiliser, line marking machines and paint, posts and nets to most Premier League teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
The firm, which has five staff and turned over £2.1m in the year to March 31, also supplies to golf clubs, local authorities and schools.
Mr Worrall said: “In the Premier League we supply about 80 per cent of teams and we are looking to extend further into Europe.”
