Stephensons solicitor’s crimes against fashion

Stephensons associate Mike Pemberton is used to representing prisoners, being manager of the prison law team at the Manchester law firm.

But it seems his antics have earned him a spell in a harsh Victorian prison cell – albeit for a good cause.

Mike has been summonsed to appear at a specially prepared court at the Manchester Police Museum on 22 April.

This follows complaints from his colleagues about speaking in a posh voice on the phone, always going on about ‘comparethemeerkat.com’ and having an obsession with Range Rovers, Star Wars and Star Trek.

Other foibles said to have incensed Mike’s colleagues include wearing waistcoats and braces and wearing ties that clash with his shirt – a fashion no-no.

At the court, Mike will have his mugshot taken and will spend a morning in a cell, with nothing but a chamber pot and a hairy blanket.

Fortunately his ordeal is all aimed at raising more than £1,000 for The Christie cancer hospital – he already has a justgiving page for donations.

Mike said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to raise vital funds for The Christie, but naturally I maintain my innocence of all charges.”
