Styles & Wood debuts in heath sector
Property design and refurbishment group Styles & Wood has kicked off a drive into the healthcare sector with a contract in Manchester.
Altrincham-based Styles & Wood has been appointed by the North West Strategic Health Authority to build a £1.3m health centre at the site of the Kingsway Medical Practice in Burnage.
The two-storey building will house six surgeries. The contract adds to a growing list of public sector clients for Styles & Wood, which includes the Department for Work and Pensions.
Its move into the sector comes alongside a push into the office and leisure arenas as well as retail banking, to offset a decline in revenues from the high street as store chains curb investment plans.
Earlier this month, Styles & Wood posted a slump in 43 per cent revenues for 2009 from £243.1m to £139.3m.
Pre-tax losses for the year, after refinancing and restructuring costs, were £1.81m, up from £949,000 in 2008.
