US: We’ll get deficit in order
BEIJING – US TREASURY Secretary Timothy Geithner is seeking to reassure China that the United States will get its deficit in order.
His comments to China’s official Xinhua News Agency come shortly before two days of bilateral talks in Beijing that he and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will attend.
Mr Geithner’s Friday interview with Xinhua was released on Saturday.
The news agency quoted him as saying the Obama administration is going to tackle its deficit issue seriously.
Foreign analysts expect the US deficit to be one of the key issues China brings up in the second round of the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
