White House official to speak at nonprofits conference

Sonal Shah, former Google executive and now White House official, will give the keynote address at the Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence’s annual conference this year.

Shah once led global development efforts for Google’s philanthropic arm and now leads the White House’s Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation.

Her address will open “The New Nonprofit Sector: Redefined, Retooled and Resilient,” a full day of information and networking. The conference on May 5 will feature many national and local experts and breakout sessions.

“Nonprofits across the country are facing one of the toughest years in the sector’s history,” said Alliance CEO Nancy McGee. “With declining resources and increased demand for services, organizations are being pushed to make some tough decisions.”

The conference runs from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Clark Opera Memphis Center at 6745 Wolf River Parkway.
