Hi brains trust,
For those who have been, I'm going to work in Tokyo and my family are joining me for 8 days at the end. Looking for recommendations for hotels or districts to stay (2 adults 2 kids). 5 star probably off the table due to cost but happy to pay more for more room space rather than 5 star service. Perhaps 4 star will fit the bill. Traveling to Disneyland and other touristy areas so somewhere with good train access would suit. Please share your thoughts if you have been.

Personally love the Tokyu Stay hotels. Most of the ones in Tokyo have in built washing machine and dryers.

Can't give a specific recommendations but here are a few observations after living on Tokyo.
Central Tokyo has a great rail and subway system including the Yamanote line that circles the most popular districts so most areas are easy to get to, just remember the crowds.
Shinjuku, Tokyo Station and Roppongi are the main hotel areas all have good transport links and lots to do near by but often come at a premium so consider areas like Ueno and Shibuya. Also always check the size of accommodation, things can get tight.
Thanks both. Any further replies appreciated.

My go to hotel in Tokyo is the Royal Park Hotel Tokyo. It is right next to the Tokyo City Air Terminal (T-CAT) so make travel to the airports very convenient. They do have a range of room types so may be able to meet the needs of a family.
Have also stayed to the Hotel East 21 Tokyo. A little further away from the main city centre so less costly and they are a Tokyo Disney Good Neighbor Hotel so have a free shuttlebus connection to Disneyland. Do have rooms to accomodate 4.
My last visit in March included a stay over a weekend. The hotel costs in Central Tokyo were outrageous so after much searching ended up staying Friday and Saturday nights at the Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo - Roppongi. Was actually a bit of a surprise, recently renovated and good eating options nearby. The rooms wont accommodate 4 however they may have interconnecting room options.

I've travelled to Tokyo with my kids a few times now and will be again in November! If you haven't been before, Shinjuku is a lot of fun and we have always stayed there. This November however, we are trying some different spots and staying in Asakusa at the Mimaru and then Tokyo Station at the Tokyo Station Hotel. We have stayed at a Mimaru in Kyoto back in 2019 and it's great for families, I would highly recomend them and they have a few spots around Tokyo. You can't beat a room with its own microwave and washing machine!
Another good place I stayed at randomly was the Oakwood Premier Tokyo. Its great and walking distance to the Pokemon Cafe if your family are in to that! I'd go Mimaru though, considering you're a family of 4.
have a great trip!
